Chapter 16 ~ Taylor & Ashley

A beautiful Christmas tree sat in the corner of the Hanson's living room. It was filled with colorful lights, cute ornaments, and an angel on top. Presents were spread out all around underneath it. Just 4 days until Christmas, and everyone was excited.

"I'm so glad we get to spend Christmas at home." Mr. Hanson said, putting his arm around his wife. "I thought we'd be busy a lot this month."

"Hey Dad, I'm going out."

"Taylor. Couldn't you say 'may I go out?' It would be a lot nicer." His mother said, shaking her head.

"Sorry." Taylor replied, putting on his coat. "I'm going over to Ashley's. I'll be home by nine." Zipping up his coat, he opened the door and left.

"Hmm... He didn't quite get the hint, did he?"

Mr. Hanson laughed. "Maybe you were too subtle for him."

"Oh! Hi Taylor!" Nikki, Ashley's younger sister said, as she opened the door. She grabbed Taylor's hand and pulled him into the house. "Ashley!" She yelled up the stairs.

"Hey Ash. How are you?" Taylor smiled sweetly at her as she came down the stairs.

"Hi. I'm great." Thinking about how cute Taylor was when he smiled made her blush. "Wanna come upstairs and watch tv or something?"

He just smiled at her for a minute, then finally nodded. They walked upstairs together and into her room. After a few minutes discussion, they decided to watch a Christmas movie that was on tv.

"Um, Tay? The movie has been on twenty minutes and you've hardly looked at the tv at all." They sat beside each other on the bed, leaning back against the wall.

Taylor was just staring down at his hand, nervously playing with the silver ring on his finger. "Huh? What did you say?" He looked liked he was buying a house right down the street there in Cluelessville. She just stared at him. "Sorry, I was just thinking."

"About what?" She asked

"Oh... just some stuff." Apparently he didn't want to say so she didn't bother him about it. "So... you wanna come over Christmas eve and trade presents?"

"Sure that sounds great. You got me something?"

He took her hand. "Of course. I..." His voice just trailed off.

"What is it?" He wouldn't answer. "Tay, tell me why you've been so quiet today."

He looked up into her eyes. Leaning forward, he pushed the hair away from her face and kissed her. He gently pushed her back and she layed down on the bed. "Mmmm..." He whispered, kissing her. He rolled off beside of her still kissing. He rubbed his hand on her stomach on top of her shirt. He moved his hand down a little to the top of her jeans. When he went a little farther she jumped a bit from nervousness. "I'm sorry, do you want me to quit?"

"No." Ashley answered quickly. "I'm just a teeny bit nervous."

He sat up and looked at her. "You know..." He started, but trailed off again.

"What is it?" She rubbed her hand on his chest and pulled him back down beside her. "Tay, you can tell me anything."

"I know, I'm just afraid." Maybe afraid wasn't the word he was looking for. It was more like terrified. "Ashley, I really, I really like you."

She smiled and took both of his hands. "I really like you too."

"But, it's more than that. I think. No. I know, I love you."

Ashley wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "I love you too." She whispered in his ear. They hugged and kissed some more and finally sat up when they heard someone walk by her room. "Why were you afraid to tell me that?" It was the first thing that had been said, since they said they loved each other.

Taylor shrugged. "It was, I was just scared you wouldn't say it back. Or that you would think I was silly."

"I wouldn't do that." She put her hand on his shoulder. "I really love you. More than I've ever loved anyone."

"Hahah" Isaac said as he walked into their room to find Zac sitting at a desk. "I win."

"Win what? What are you talking about?" Zac asked, spinning around in his chair.

"Look at these babies." He raised his hair up to show Zac two hickeys, one on each side of his neck, and another one at the top of his back. "See, that's three, so I win."

"Oh, it's a game? Well, let's just see who has the most tomorrow." Zac grinned and stood up."

"You're on." Ike said, and then jumped. Mackie had jumped and grabbed his leg. Now sitting on his foot.

"Will you guys pleeeeeease play a video game with me? Golden Eye, 007? Will you?" He begged.

"Sure." Ike said. And the three of them headed down the stairs. Mackie still atached to his leg.

When they got down there the door opened and Taylor hopped in, humming loudly and dancing. First he grabbed Kirstie taking her arm and spinning her around, still humming and dancing. Then he grabbed Zac's arm and did the same.

"So." Zac said. "I guess this means you told her."

"Yeppers." Taylor said, plopping down on the couch. "And there's more." He smiled.

"How come I'm starting to be the one who doesn't find out about anything now? What are you guys talking about?" Ike pouted.

"Yeah, I wanna know too." Kirstie said.

"Alright. Alright." Taylor said, jumping up. "Everybody up to my room and I'll tell you everything."

The four of them went upstairs and left Mackie sitting on the floor, arms crossed and a frown on his face. "I wish I had another brother who didn't like girls so much." He mumbled.
