Chapter 14 ~ A Day at the Park

A week had gone by and all was well in the hanson house. Taylor, Zac, and Kirstie were on there way to the park to meet Ashley and go ice skating.

"There she is!" Tay yelled, pointing to Ashley who was sitting on a bench by the frozen lake. He grabbed Zac's arm, who was holding hands with Kirstie, and dragged them both quickly behind him.

"Alright Tay, we're coming." Zac said, pulling his arm away from Taylor's grasp.

"Hi Ash." Taylor said cheerfully, walking over and sitting on the bench beside her. "I see you already have your ice skates on."

"Yeah I had to practice a little before you got here. I wanted to make sure I didn't suck too bad so I wouldn't embarass myself." She said and stood up in front of him.

"You should never feel embarassed infront of me" Taylor said with a grin. He put his skates on and Ashley reached out her hands pulling him out on the ice with her. After he stepped out on the ice and tried to move a little by himself, his feet flew out in front of him and he landed on his butt in front of her. His face turned red and she couldn't help but giggle a little.

"Beautiful Taylor, that was really amazing." Zac clapped as he and Kirstie walked up behind them and sat down to put their skates on.

"It's okay, I'll help you." Ashley said looking down at him.

She's so pretty. Taylor thought. She had a big purple coat on with white gloves. Her hair was held back by a ribbon. He reached his hand up to her and she took it, pulling him back up. "Thank you." He said.

"Now don't worry, this is easy. I know you know how to rollerblade, this is no different." She could feel the coldness of his bare hand through her glove. The wind was blowing hard making it even colder outside, but holding hands with Taylor, skating slowly across the ice, filled her heart with warmth.

Zac and Kirstie got up from the bench together and made their way out to the ice. "We went ice skating last winter, but Tay had a cold so he didn't get to come. That's why he's having a little trouble." Zac laughed.

He and Kirstie made it about 5 feet from the snow covered grass and Kirstie fell, pulling Zac with her. "I'm so sorry. This isn't as easy as I thought it would be."

"Haha. That'll teach you to laugh at me." Taylor joked, as he and Ashley skated past them.

"I didn't laugh at you. And I made it a lot farther than you did anyway." She laughed, getting back up with Zac.

The four of them skated around together for over an hour. They even tried to play tag once. But they quit that after all of them had fallen a couple times. Now they were heading back to the little bench for a break.

"So guys, where's Ike?" Ashley asked, playing with the hair that had came loose from Tay's poneytail.

"He said he had to go somewhere." Taylor said, looking at the ground and kicking some snow.

Zac leaned towards him. "Now come on. We all know you know everybody's little secrets. I don't know how, but you do. Where did Ike have to go today?"

"You guys can't tell him I told you. He went on a date. He met some girl named leigh."

"Really?" Kirstie looked surprized. "Why didn't he tell us?"

"Well, I don't know." Taylor answered, looking up at the sky. "Hey, it's starting to snow."

"I should probably be going." Ashley said, looking at her watch. "I'm going to the mall today with my mom to do some Christmas shopping. You guys wanna come?"

Taylor turned to her smiling. "Yeah that would be great."

"Sure, it..." Zac started.

Kirstie pinched his butt and interupted him. "No we've got plans, but you two go have fun."

"You wanna go ahead and come over Tay? We'll be leaving soon." Ashley said, trying not to sound too pleading.

"Yeah, that's fine." He said, staring at her and grinning. "Will you guys tell Mom when you get home for me?"

"Sure." Zac said. They all sat down and put their shoes back on. They got up and went their seperate ways. Kirstie and Zac walked back across the park until Zac stopped and bent over. "My shoe's untied, hang on."

"Okay." She said, looking at the trees blowing in the wind as the snow began to fall harder. She turned back to Zac and a giant snowball hit her right in the face. She wiped the snow off her face and saw Zac lauging his head off.

"I got you so good." He started to run when he realized Kirstie was running towards him. She grabbed the back of his shirt and they both fell on the ground and rolled down a small hill. They sat up and started laughing, picking up snow and throwing it at each other.

Zac got a big snow ball and went after her. She tried to stand up but he grabbed her foot and she started to crawl away. She screamed and laughed. "Leave me alone!" The were both giggling as he pushed her over into the cold snow. She knocked the snowball out of his hand and he jumped on top of her. They slowly stopped laughing and layed there for a moment staring at each other. Zac leaned down towards Kirstie and softly kissed her lips.

"I love you." He whispered, pushing the hair away from her face. She raised her head up off the ground and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her up. They sat together in the snow, kissing each other.

She pulled away and smiled at him. "I love you too." She leaned back to him, kissing his neck. When they finally got up Kirstie had a hickey on her neck and Zac had 2 on his.

They walked hand in hand all the way back home. When they finally got there and walked in Mrs. Hanson was sitting on the coach watching the news.

"My goodness, kids. You're completely covered in snow and soaking wet. You look like you've been rolling on the ground." She said, putting her hands on her hips and standing up.

They just smiled at each other, and Zac gave Kirstie a wink. ;)

"Well you two must be freezing. How about some hot chocolate?" She smiled.

"Sure Mom, sounds great," Zac answered. She headed for the kitchen to fix them some. They both pulled their jackets and shoes off and went and sat down on the couch.

Zac put his arm around her and she kissed him on the cheak. "Where's the remote to the tv?" She asked.

As he reached for it Kirstie grabbed his arm and began to shake a little. He looked at her and she was staring at the tv. There was a picture of her. He turned the volume up a little. It was saying... "A 16 year old girl from Memphis Tennessee has been missing for over a month now. She was blonde hair, green eyes, and is approxmately 5'7. If you have any information about her please call the following number..."

"Oh my God..." Was all Zac could get out. Kirstie layed her head on his shoulder trying to keep from crying.

Mrs. Hanson walked in the room and Zac quickly turned the tv off. "Would you all like something to eat with your hot chocolate?"

"Not right now." Zac said staring at the blank screen on the television. She walked back to the kitchen.

Kirstie looked up at him. "What am I going to do? I'm missing. What if someone has seen me and recognizes me? What if..."

"Shhh... It will be okay. Don't worry. Everything is going to be just fine. Nothing's changing." He tried to calm her down, though he knew he was lying.
